My last visit to Farnworth was back in 2020 when I visited the Britannia next to the bus station. I can't see I was too impressed with either the pub or the town itself. A return visit didn't fill me with any confidence, but the King's Arms was by far the best of 12 pubs I visited in Greater Manchester over a couple of days.

It's a down-to-earth backstreet pub the drinking areas wrapping around the bar. At one end was a games area with a dartboard, a pool table and a TV showing a western. Most locals were congregated in a central area where another TV was showing BBC News and there was a jukebox, whilst at the other end, there was a snug area with a sign banning workwear in that area. There was also a garden at the rear.

Ossett White Rat is the regular beer. Guests on my visit were Small World Barncliffe Bitter & Thunderbridge Stout & Saltaire Nectaron. In addition, there was a Sharp's Doom Bar clip turned round and another spare handpull. So pleased was I with the stout, that I decided to try the Nectaron too. All were served by a friendly old school barmaid who was having to put up with a local trying to wind her up and serving him Yates' Aussie White Wines with boiling water, a lemon and what seemed like a teabag!

This is clearly a popular pub with locals and rightly so. The beers I tried were in good condition. Well worth a visit. Not sure if there is still a CAMRA discount though.
