This is a large town centre pub on the main road through Teddington, that was all but empty on my Thursday evening visit. You enter into a large square main bar area with bare boards, gastro shaded walls and the servery down the left-hand wall. The bar has a dark wood panelled counter with a bare brick bar back illuminated by fairy lights and adorned with a few plain mirrors. The space opposite has been filled with loads of tables and chairs, while high tables and stools are dotted in between and tattered banquettes run down the right-hand wall. To the rear is an upright piano, that probably doesn’t get a whole lot of use these days, and the walls are sparingly decorated with old paintings, maps and the like. The ceiling is perhaps the pub’s most distinctive feature, covered with some impressive moulded metal panels that look really great. To the rear, there’s a shallow room with sofa and tub chair seating under part wallpaperted, part painted walls. Another room to the right looked like it was set up more for diners, with rows of basic table and chair seating arrangements under bare brick walls. Some dreadful modern pop nonsense was playing in the background and the customer count never quite made it into double figures the whole time I was here.
On the bar, cask options were Portobello VPA and a house beer (possibly rebadged Greene King IPA), plus a Lilley’s Cider. The VPA turned out to be a little tired and uninspiring, and was served to me by a somewhat tired and uninspiring barmaid.
I have an entirely unsubstantiated theory that pubs which bear the name of the town they are in, are always crap and a terrible representative of the town in question, and this place didn’t do a great deal to shoot this theory down. The beer wasn’t great, the service just about functional, the atmosphere non-existent and the interior dull (with the notable exception of the ceiling). I’d definitely drop this one the next time I pass through Teddington.

A peculiar pub, presumably converted from retail a while ago, with a strange mixture of styles including bare brick, wooden floors and a bizarre silver ceiling. The bar is to one side, bordered by some irrelevant flagstones, with the rooms extending off in a sort of circuit with a mix of dining and lounging areas. Another Greene King pub with IPA, GK house beer and a guest, which was a mediocre Twickenham Grandstand. As a previous review mentioned, neither worth visiting nor avoiding.

A modern Gastro style pub,it lacked in any real atmosphere and left me feeling rather cold, I had an ordinary tasting pint of Portobello Star.
I didn't take to this place at all.
