This is a Young’s House – they had on Bitter, Special, Waggledance, and London Gold. The London Gold was fine, and at the reasonable (I suppose) price of £3.20 a pint for this part of the world. They served food during lunchtime (I saw others eating), but there wasn’t a menu on the table at which I sat. This is a very modern looking pub; inside it’s very swish and smart. It now has new bare boards of course, chunky tables everywhere (tall, round and rectangular), sofas aplenty, and it’s very airconditioned. All very upmarket Young’s in fact. The best feature for me is the new glass conservatory at the front, with a glass roof, glass sides from floor to roof, allowing the best possible view of the river that they can manage. Unfortunately the river is on the other side of the busy main road, but there’s nothing they can do about that.
I popped in here because I happened to be passing, and it’s good enough for a pint if that’s what you’re doing (as you long as you don’t have an aversion to Young’s ales), but I don’t think that I would go out of my way to visit again.

When i went in this pub it was called the Popes Grotto, this is a really big pub with an hotel attached that is fairly close to the Thames and there are not that many other pubs nearby.
This pub is a Youngs tied house and once inside the pub had one large room that i noticed this was well furnished and comfortable but seemed a bit upmarket for my liking.
There were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Youngs bitter and this was a nice drink the other beer was Youngs Special.
