A stunning looking pub both inside and out, with an unusual two storey bay window. The country style interior with low black beamed ceilings and flagstone floor along with a log burning stove and a lit candelabra on the mantle piece really added atmosphere. I especially liked the copper hanging lamps over the bar area and highly polished handpumps.
Five handpumps with four in use serving Frome Zig Zag Stout, Bowman Swift One, Flowerpots Goodens Gold and Flack's Double Drop.
The beer quality was excellent, slightly elevated prices but well worth it.

Quite a bit of character in this one, a couple of minutes out of the immediate town centre in a picture postcard street. Nice turquoise and gold striped wallpaper, treated slab floor, rugs, log burning stove. To the rear is a neat little patio. However the pub is more restaurant than boozer, with almost every table reserved or populated with diners on our Sunday afternoon stop-off. Nevertheless there were six pumps; Flacks Double, Catcher (fair), 2x house ale (by Andwell) with Westons cider also on (Orchard Pig clip was turned) with an advertised 20% off 2 pint takeaways. A number of mounted pump clips attested to a decent regular guest range. Six Nations fixtures were chalked up, presumably to be shown on the (switched off) telly. So similar to the Old House in terms of offer but I have to say I warmed to this one a little more. 6.5
