A thatched roadside pub with 15th Century roots, though it’s been substantially extended and modernised in the 19th and 20th Centuries. Given its location and ‘quaintness’, it’s popular with passing tourists. There is plenty of parking in front and garden seating at the front and rear. Inside, the main large bar and dining area feels more contrived than the main frontage, but it doesn’t feel unwelcoming and is comfortable enough. There is also a function room which currently houses a pool table. The young barman was cheerful and the other customers were relatively civilised. They offer a restaurant menu at prices which are a bit above average for the area. There is also a food menu for dogs for those who don’t mind being ripped off. Ales on were Sixpenny Dorset Gold and Ringwood 49er in decent condition. Inch’s Cider, Heineken, Amstel and Moretti were also available. It’ a decent enough place to have a pitstop if you miss the grockle traffic.

A beautifully restored Thatched Pub offering excellent traditional home cooked food at affordable prices. Outside there is a fantasic raised decking area to the rear with beautiful gardens surrounding. I was very impressed with the friendly service by all the staff and Management. A Fantastic atmoshere...perfect for all the family. Well worth a visit!!
