Previous review still describes it nicely. Competent food-led pub with reasonable beer range but not exceptional.

Large pub conveniently situated in the middle of the High Street. It's a pleasant enough place with a carpeted bar and a low beamed ceiling, a separate restaurant area and a small courtyard. It was very busy on a recent Monday night, although that seemed mostly due to the quiz night that was on.

There looked to be an extensive pub grub menu at fairly reasonable prices, and a specials board as well. Somehow in spite of all this it lacked a little bit of character. It perhaps gives the impression of being part of a corporate chain, although I'm not sure who actually owns it.

Beers on offer were Ringwood Best and Forty-niner, Hop Back Summer Lightning and Doom Bar. The solitary cider was Thatcher's Gold.

Used lunchtime Sept 2007, pleasant enough, my companion was impressed by the food, nice pub for quite lunchtime drink as it is at top of hill and not to "touristy"
