Village pub, modernised but there's a little bit of retained character in the L shaped interior. Inevitably there’s a formal dining area, replete with baby grand piano. Decor items of note include a selection of mounted cricket bats. Decent rear garden looked like a good summer’s day bet. Selection of papers and a switched-off TV. Three pumps with two ales on; Harveys Sussex Best (mediocre), TT Landlord and a cider, Westons Flat Tyre. “top drawer lemonade” according to Desmond and he knows a good one when he tastes it. Friendly barmaid, one of the best I’ve encountered for a while. Overall it’s fine but really there isn’t much to get excited about here, which is a shame. 5.5
