Locals pub tucked away in the village of North Warnborough. Opening times are a little restricted here, with service only in the evenings, apart from on a Sunday.
There was a rather uneasy silence as I walked in, as I was clearly a stranger. With only Doom Bar & Landlord to choose from, I opted for a soft drink. Locals soon settled down, but their dogs did the opposite with a few comings together and lots of barking.
Everybody was congregated in the main bar area, where a covered pool table could be found. A second empty room had much nicer decoration and furnishings. I believe they do now serve food at certain times.

The Anchor is a two bar ,traditionally layed out locals pub on a small residential backstreet that leads on into a country lane. As is commonplace in this area its an ex Courage pub and retains an outside red courage sign. One of the two handpumps still offers Courage Best as a permanent beer, the second option, which may change, was Timothy Taylor Landlord. The Pub boasts a large beer garden and some parking at the rear, Inside there is a pool table and dartboard. Only opens late afternoon and evenings Mon-Sat and retains a traditional Sunday lunchtime session with an afternoon closure before reopening for the evening. The pub does offer food but is wet led.
Not a bad example of its type.
