Good roadside pub on way out of town with an emphasis on food but retaining a nice pub feel. A splendid and changing range of local ales is on offer and seemed in excellent condition. Only stopped off for a quick half but I shall definitely return!

The Wheelwright’s Arms, in Emsworth Road, Havant, was previously owned by Punch Taverns and a succession of landlords took over the 150-year-old watering hole, but none of them could make it work.

The building was recently sold to local firm Upham Brewery for £500,000, and director David Butcher said it intends to invest the same amount.
