Tucked away down a backstreet, the Robin Hood is a charming, traditional pub with a cosy atmosphere across its two-bar layout, both of which retain much of their original partitioning. Entering into the front bar, you are greeted by a flagstone floor, banquettes tucked under the windows, and a scattering of hard benches, chairs and low stools. Dark wood panelling and old ceiling beams add to the traditional feel, anchored by a large brick fireplace on the rear wall, where a stove burned warmly. A dartboard and slot machine nod to the room’s public bar roots, while horse brasses, golfing memorabilia and a cabinet full of Toby jugs decorate the walls. A quirky sign marks “Big G’s Old Gits Corner” to the far left. A door at the rear leads through to a second bar with laminate flooring, more conventional tables and chairs, and a slightly more modern feel. Here, a fireplace sits to the front, and a raised, carpeted dining area can be found further back, adorned with old photos and local memorabilia. The servery runs down the left-hand wall through both bars, boasting a handsome wood-panelled counter with a curved end, a gantry lined with pump clips, and a traditional bar back. Reggae tunes played softly in the background, and service was particularly warm and welcoming.
The cask ale choice was solid, featuring Fullers London Pride, Gales Seafarers and HSB (at £5.10) and Taylors Landlord, with my pint of the HSB served in good condition. A modest early afternoon crowd were in and they all seemed to know the bar staff and each other, but I didn't feel particularly out of place and thought this was by far the best of the four Havant pub that I visited, for an extended session.
This is a classic, friendly traditional pub where it was very easy to settle down and stay a while. I thought the layout was slightly off-beat, in a good way, with plenty of interesting bits to explore and some excellent beer and friendly service to make you want to return. I really liked this one and would say if you only have time to check out one pub when you're in town, make it this one.

Characterful and homely Fuller's pub in a pretty backstreet bit of Havant by the church. A local clientele on our afternoon visit – don’t be put off by the odd skinhead in Pompey colours, they were all well-behaved. A multi-roomer in a modern, semi knocked-through way with traditional décor and furnishings. Four ales on, HSB, Seafarers, Pride and a decent drop of St Austell Harvest Moon. Worth a drop-in.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Robin Hood

Very pleasant Fuller's (presumably ex-Gales) hostelry - in the town centre but slightly hidden away in a quiet spot beside the church. The interior may have been opened out a bit, although the bar is still in a bit of an awkward position, but it has the enviable character of a village pub. Very traditional furniture and decor, but it was the sign indicating "Big G's Old Gits Corner" that caught my eye. Four real ales on handpump: Pride, Seafarers, HSB and Cameron's Gold Bullion (£3.85) as a guest. Well worth seeking out.
