A friendly rural pub, which conveniently has its own bus stop. To one side is a small public bar (with an intriguing combined darts board and sports tv!) while the other side has a lounge area and opens into a larger room laid out for dining. Garden at rear. The landlord showed a welcoming interest in his beer, and ales at time of visit were Goddards Fuggle-de-dum and West Berkshire Good Old Boys, both in good condition (Cask Marque listing). Beware the advertised mild is actually on keg however. Good value home-made food. An excellent stopping-off place.

The pub looks like a large 1930s brick house from the posh end of town, with a couple of front facing gables, an extension for dining and a nice beer garden.
The interior has two rooms; a bar and a more dining based area, where we sat and ate. This part of the pub is in yellow and red, with a few old photographs of the area and a bit of brass ephemera and a miniature bottle collection. There were a couple of Victorian style fireplaces with black and white surround. The food was fine, as it was when we first visited last year. There was a dart board in the bar. The service is friendly and the clientele mixed in age and both holidaymakers and locals.
Beer; tap stuff, including a nice enough Courage Dark MILD, with Ruddles Bitter and Ringwood 49er on handpull.
We always pop into the Sun for a visit, it is a good solid performer, with a MILD (sadly keg) on. Worth a visit and worthy of its GBG 2010 status.
