A well worn locals boozer but with charm,off ther front door is a right sided snug crowded with a mix of furniture,a front lounge ,the bar midships to the left behind which was a pool table,darts board and a decking beer garden.There was also a Chesterfield sofa opposite the bar in a side section which looked like the sort of furniture you can sit on but struggle to get out of ,especially if you start quaffing.
At the bar Brakspear Bitter,Butcombe Original and Moorhouses White Witch (NBSS Good) with Landlord reversed and another ale being pulled through.
Enjoyable crawl visit for the authentic boozer vibe ,relaxed and friendly.Note weekday 2pm opening.

A good solid locals' pub just off the centre, traditionally furnished with sundry side areas in various levels of comfort. Still a little peculiar - I followed one regular bringing his bike in which he proper opposite the bar. Not the greatest beer choice on - TT Landlord, Butcombe and Moorhouses White Witch - but the latter was in good order.

the usual madness was all present on this Saturday night- international students talking absolute bollocks and annoying the staff, pissed up locals having a northern soul disco in the back room. the side room is now an absolute disgrace with the once plush armchairs ripped to shreds and ready for the scrapheap. Nothing interesting at all beer-wise, but the Landlord was in good shape. Still a top pub just for the atmosphere and ‘anything goes’ philosophy.
