Village pub near Pendle Hill that was popular with diners on my midweek lunchtime visit. There is a main bar area with a podium requesting you to wait to be seated near the entrance. I ignored this, as there were no staff around as I walked in and I headed straight to the bar insted. Off to the left of the main room is a small side room with a dartboard and a scarcity of tables. This leads through to the toilets. A set of stairs was roped off, whilst there was another small room to the front right, which was unused during my visit. At the rear, is a large conservatory, which seemed to be the favoured spot for diners.

On the ales front, Thwaite's dominates the choice, with their Gold, Amber & IPA on offer, alongside Moorhouse's Pride of Pendle.

It was good to visit here at Halloween, as the pub was fabulously decorated and get to try the Moorhouses Broomstick bitter. Once through the main doors you come across a Tudor fireplace with an open fire and some bench seating. There were a couple of rooms on the right and the bar area was situated in the middle of the pub. A decent sized room with a pool table and a parquet was beyond this. The large conservatory at the rear of the pub is mainly used for dining. Four Moorhouses and two Wychwood ales were on handpump on this visit.

A real country pub, flag floor and roaring fire in the bar, dogs and walkers welcome. Excellent selection of real ales changing on regular basis. Lovely selection of food, wide choice from a snack to a full meal. Large conservatory area at the rear. Situated at the foot of Pendle Hill. My favourite pub in the area.
