Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Gatehouse

The former Slug & Lettuce was completely transformed by Stonegate into a more interesting bar / restaurant by is now run by RedCat. Light furniture and colourful modern decor in the main rectangular space and raised seating / dining area at the back. Also has a few small tables out on the pavement frontage. Unfortunately, the beer offer has diminished, with just Landlord (£3.60) available from three handpumps, although there is a variety of craft beers and a cider available from the eight keg taps on the bar-back.

Strongers . left this review about The Slug & Lettuce

The Slug and Lettuce is open plan with a bar on the right hand wall where standard and premium draught products are available. At the rear is a raised seating area that had been roped off in preparation for a 30th birthday party. My visit was early on Friday evening before the advertised 20:00 DJ had started his set and before the two for one cocktails had become available. Food is served during the day and the mains are all priced under £10. There is also a children’s menu.

A plasma screen up on the wall was showing muted adverts for the pub and there was some background music playing. In the toilet was an ad for September rugby, which I imagine is on terrestrial television.

I found the service to be very friendly and I thought that this was one of the better S&L’s that I have visited, but it is still an S&L so I do not plan to rush back.
