Bishops Finger is a wood panelled Shepherd Neame pub with worn wooden flooring throughout and a stool lined beer shelf under the leaded front windows to the left of the entrance. There are high tables across the front and up the right opposite the long serving counter that runs up the left. Premium and SN keg options were available alongside four hand pumps, although only Master Brew was available. At the far end of the counter is an old brick fireplace and televisions throughout were airing various sports channels that were all muted while a mix of R&B and house music played in the background. Regular live music is advertised. There’s seating on the path outside the front of the pub and out the back in the beer garden that has a long patio. It’s ok in here, but the barman wasn’t the most welcoming and I was surprised that Bishops Finger wasn’t available considering the name of the pub. I’ll probably walk past this pub next time.

A rather disappointing pub given the name and the fact it’s a Sheps pub. As with the eponymous beer, it’s referred to as Nun’s Delight, but it wasn’t a particularly delightful visit. Ales on were Bishop’s Finger, Masterbrew and Creekside, none of them in great condition. The keg selection was Whitstable Bay, Spitfire, Strongbow, Moretti and Guinness. The young female staff were pretty apathetic, and the request to order and pay online was just irritating. Maybe I caught them on a bad day

The compact façade and interior of this Shepherd Neame pub have both been refurbished but the decor is still quite traditional although the furniture is modern in style. Several sports TVs. Extra seating at a few small tables out on the pavement and in the reasonable patio beer garden out back. Just two of four handpumps in use on this visit, offering Master Brew and Whitstable Bay Pale, with the beer after which the pub is named still not back in production after the coronavirus lockdown.
