Friendly roadside pub next to the Grand Union Canal. There was a few items of canal memorabilia.
Signs outside highlighted that food was unavailable. So the clientele were all drinkers, who were mainly sat in the small tiled front bar area and to the side of the bar itself. Beyond that was a large and unused dining area.
Old Speckled Hen is the regular beer here. Guests were Abbot & Landlord.
The landlord, his dog Hugo and regulars all appeared to be friendly and welcoming to visitors.

A friendly, atmospheric village local with a large restaurant at the back but traditional bar at the front. An unimaginative range of ales includes Adnams Broadside, Tetleys cask, Old Speckled Hen and Pedigree. The Pedigree was very good which, in my experience, is very unusual now and is a significant acheivement to be celebrated by quaffing some should you be in the vicinity.

The best part of the pub is by the entrance from the main road where the traditional bar is situated.Good boozer atmosphere, tiled floor, dog friendly ,real fire and there are a couple of other drinking areas situated off the central serving bar, seperated by doorways which are so often removed to create that dead ,open plan interior.Well done to everyone here for resisting that temptation. There is a large dining area further round the building ,so diners are well catered for.The real ale range was saved for me by well kept Pedigree and the lunchtime bar snacks are extremely competatively priced.Large garden overlooking the canal, this place is very worth while checking out.Friendly service from the landlord and his attractive barmaid.
