The Globe is a venerable multi-roomed Everards house dating back to 1720, serving what must be the full range (5 different ales as I recall). Those different drinking areas (including a few tables outside) come in handy with the pub hosting one particularly sweary party who I can easily imagine having been kicked out of the grim Spencers bar down the street for being a bit too lairy.
If this is the regular clientele, I can't see myself returning on future visits to Leicester. I drank up and left as swiftly as I could, with the £5 pint of Pale Ale I selected slipping down quickly enough.

Its usual schizophrenic self. Today’s Tiger was excellent (NBSS 4) though at 5 quid a pop I should bloody hope so, must be the most expensive cask in LE1! And card only payment. One that merits a visit if you’re a Leicester first-timer but I doubt I’ll ever truly dig it - I’ve been trying to for getting on for 20 years…

Fairly unwelcoming at 10pm with chairs already stacked on tables. Feels like it’s had another refurb inside. Everards Old Original towards the fag end of the barrel but fine (NBSS 3) and Brunswick Railway Porter (3). Sat in the front snug with the only other customers who did their bit to add a bit of atmosphere. Always feels like there’s a classic pub waiting to get out but never quite manages it. GBG’22 listed. Popped in again today as I had a few minutes to kill in Leicester. Pub refurb in 2007 seems to have coincided with a general all-round improvement which has been retained. Full Everards range on today, my pint of Original was spot-on. Clientèle were mainly working class males. The interior of the pub is a multi-area'ed extravaganza, reflecting the pubs claimed age of being over 300 years old - the oldest in Leicester, according to the plaque on the wall, accentuated by the gas lamps present inside (assume they are for decoration only!). Some people were chowing down on the Sunday roasts. Sitting outside with my pint was quite pleasant and I'd recommend this as part of a tour of Leicester. Rated 7

Interior has been done up to a better standard now, showing off the nice touches. And by default seems to have ridden it of the weirdo element - perhaps the 'broken window' theory in action. I had a decent pint of Tiger to boot. A big improvement and worth a visit if in the town centre needing to kill half an hour. Rated 7

This place is a mess. The seats have chunks missing and it needs painting something else from that nasty vomit yellow colour. A weirdo in the corner kept staring at us too. The Everards beer is fine as you'd expect, but as a drinking experience this place sucks, especially with so many other decent ale houses nearby like the Criterion or the Vaults. Don't go here until the place is done-up. Rated 5

A nice multi roomed traditional. The history of it being Leicester's oldest pub is detailed on external signs.
inside, there is a central bar, with rooms hanging over it all around.
Comfortable enough. As usual, Everards Tiger looked fantastic but didnt exactly set the pulse racing.
