A nice looking pub in the typical black and white paint of Craft Union pubs. Most of this group's pubs that I have visited have been well run, with good atmosphere and cheap drinks, some of them having some decent cask beer too. This one fitted that description in all but the final criterion, though there were two hand pumps on the bar. I asked for a half of Worthington Creamflow, which was a bit too cool for my liking but otherwise not too bad, and only £1 for a half. I asked about cask beers and the woman who served me, who I took to be the licensee, said they just couldn't sell enough of it to keep it in good enough condition. She said she would like to be able to offer a mild, but she would end up throwing a lot of it away. There were plenty in here early afternoon - for a small pub, 20 drinkers is a lot - and if there were just one real ale on it would be worthwhile calling in again.

The Tivoli Tavern is a small single roomed traditional pub with banquette seating under the front windows and normal seating up the left hand-side. The bar on the right wall to the rear stocks a standard keg range and the two hand pumps were drawing Wells Bombardier and Sharps Doom Bar. Sky and BT Sports are shown on the televisions found throughout, muted F1 was being aired during a recent Wednesday afternoon visit. There was some background music playing. This is one of the better pubs in the town centre.
