This roadside village local is built of brick, flint and pantiles, all local materials. It's part of a row of cottages in this tiny village in Thetford forest, near an army firing range and the Nissen huts of Wretham camp. It was fairly quiet when I was here on a Monday evening, though a few locals were talking in impenetrable accents and playing pool. There's a dining room to the right, but I stayed in the public bar into which the front door opens, mainly because that's where everyone else was, but also because there was a very welcome fire in the solid fuel stove to the left.
On the bar are three hand pumps, but only Woodforde Wherry was left on from the weekend. Never mind, this is an excellent beer of its type and was in good condition. I was staying at the nearby camp site in the forest, about 3km distant, and if staying there again would definitely look forward to a return visit to the Dog & Partridge too.
