Edwardian brick built house a quarter mile or so from the Ouse bridge. A typical early 20th century suburban pub exterior, the inside has of course been opened out a bit, the main bar is to the right, but it's not too spoiled. Being the home of the Jolly Sailor brewery you can guess where the six pulled beers are sourced. The beers aren't bad here but if not here, where? Definitely worth the short walk from the centre of a lacklustre town. Strangely all the locals, middle aged men, were drinking lager.

The Olympia is a largish roadhouse type pub that is a shortish walk from the bridge over the River Ouse.
Once inside the pub has been opened out into a single room that still has different areas, there s a pool table and darts board to the front left, the main drinking area is to the right, the room is carpeted and has comfy bench seating and small stools, the bar is an island type so you can walk around it.
The pub is home to the Jolly Sailor brewery which i presume is either behind the pub or close by.
There was a good choice of real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Jolly Sailor Winter Blonde which went down very well and also quite cheap at £2.50 a pint, the other Jolly Sailor beers were Cue Brew,Bullseye Bitter and Jolly Special, there was also a guest beer from Milestone.
There was a TV on showing the Sunderland v Man Utd game.
The pub was quite busy and had a good lively atmosphere.
I quite liked it here.
