Recently reopened and renovated to a high standard as a pub/restaurant. Two bars; a small one with a corner counter which is home to three pulls, two with Wensleydale beers the third unclippped, plus a horseshoe keg fitting. Nice velveteen covered banquettes at square dining tables on a broad board floor. Decorated in a dark green paint with some nice paintings, various pewter nic-nac’s and hop bines round the ceiling. The second bar is more a dining area with tables and chairs and has a more winey theme, I guess it’s beer in one and wine in the other. Not much of a counter here more a flap than anything so no taps. It’s a bit of a quirky place with a fairly quirky landlord but in spite of the gastrofacation I rather liked it.

This formerly handsome pub was looking down at heel when I passed today, in too much rain to justify stopping for a photo. Signage has been removed but no fresh paint means there are tatty patches on the walls. WhatPub says "long term closed awaiting planning permission for upgrading and renovation - but that has been the situation for over two years now." It's not looking good, in both senses of the phrase.
