A good looking pub and very busy when we arrived just after midday. They have breakfast bingo on Fridays, and we'd caught the tail end of the busy session. We were here for the beer, rather than coffee and bacon bap, and luckily the beer was very good. Six hand pumps with four beers and a cider. My halves of Bass and Ossett were both very good (NBSS 4 and around £5/pint).

The Royal Oak is a typical none descript high street pub in the centre of Radcliffe with what looks to be quite an old building with previously mentioned leaded windows. Sightly less enthusieastic
than the previous reviewers experice I'm afraid as i thought the interior was a tad bland as the result of obvinumerous mini refirbushments over the years. Where the pub would have been many sepperate rooms these are all knocked through but still partitioned by the presance of obvious retaining walls that allow it to feel somewhat still partitioned. The dining room to the left did seem slightly better furnished but with precisely 0 diners in it did notreally help. The decor is nothing special with hard floors and standard fixtures. The beamed celing has been hideously white washed unfortunately.

The numerous hand pulls on the bar sadly only had Landlord and Harvest pale doubled up so we opted for one of each which set us back a hefty £7.70 which I consider a tad excessive for this region.
Neither beer really excited with the Pale a tad better kept that the labdlord but neither warranted a second pint. Overall a fairly drab town pub that only had a dosen customers on a Saturday evening. With a bit of money and some TLC this place could be good, sadly it just seems to be ticking over at the minute but the presance of real ale is somewhat redeeming

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Royal Oak

A decent sized pub with the main bar and lounge area to the right of entrance, with a dining room and open plan kitchen area on the left. The pub interior looked to have had a recent makeover, as it looked very smart and well kept. The bar side had a good sized curved oak bar area along the rear wall. Features in this area included a small section of buttoned red leather banquette seating situated over at the far end of the bar, feature wallpapered areas and carpeted throughout. The dining room was very smart looking with panelled walls, finished in a heritage blue/green colour with exposed black ceiling beams. Five handpumps, with four in use on our visit, TT Landlord, Harvest Pale, Theakston and Black Sheep Holy Grail. The Holy Grail was a decent enough Golden Ale.
