What a splendid pub! A fine place for an afternoon of talking nonsense with friends and enjoying a few beers. An excellent selection of ales on offer, including a stout, and all at very good quality and reasonable prices (Harvest Pale at £4.50). Access direct to the garden from the Nottingham-bound station platform and, for the benefit of Quinno (below) from the westbound platform access is along the path behind the platform and then over the footbridge - no backstreets involved!

Smashing old place on the CAMRA Inventory (**) and the closest pub to the train station as well (though it’s a circuitous backstreet route if the platform gate is locked). Tap room is on the right off the entry porch. Left are the busier daytime rooms which are more food-focused. There are working brass taps on the bar with running water. Daily papers and proper fires to settle yourself in for session. A set of nine ales though relatively samey in style, I didn't see anything dark. My Blue Monkey BG Sips was lively enough (NBSS 3.5) and a Shipstone Gold later on before the train was par (3). Also a selection of continental draft and plus cider and perry to have a go at. Very nice place, probably the second best in show that day in Beeston. A shame there wasn’t a dark ale there, otherwise I’d have definitely settled on a full 9. As it is, 8.5.

A fine looking and somewhat imposing red bricked late Victorian pub. There are several rooms inside worthy of investigation. There were some eight or nine cask beers available in a range of styles, I plumped for Burton Bridge Stairway To Heaven which was in good form. There are a lot of good pubs in Beeston and this one belongs near the top of the list.
