Almost like a converted house with a hallway and staircase. Bar is off right immediately as you enter. Fairly neat though not much atmosphere, only a couple of other punters supping, in contrast to the very busy Crown which I had just left. However there were a couple of other rooms which were foody and a bit livelier, one of which looks like a COVID-era garden conversion. Talking of garden, there’s a significant one here with an unexplained big gorilla statue. Ale-wise there were 10 pumps with seven on which seemed a stretch in the circumstances and indeed my Lenton Lane Starlight was rather fag-end (NBSS 2), the Alter Ego Vigilante was a bit pump tired but well-conditioned (2.5). Cobs were 2 quid - very basic (just grated cheese!!). Perhaps it all gets a lot better in the evening but I have to admit I didn’t find this place a patch on the other two ‘known’ pubs in Beeston, the Castle and Victoria. And it isn't GBG listed now, either.
