The Cock & Hoop has is quite well appointed. You enter into a fairly small room with the bar on the rear wall. A couple of armchairs in the window seemed to be beckoning us. So, unfortunately we didn't get to explore much further. Although the pub clearly extends into the premises to its right with further rooms inside and an outdoor drinking area even further up the street.

The pub is listed on Untappd, but the beer range listed there was way out-of-date. Instead, cask ales were Pentrich Bake Him Away Toys, Vocation 10th Birthday Cake, Little Critters Luna's Peach Pale Ale, Round Corner Market Bitter & Bang The Elephant Oats And Hoes. Craft beers were Round Corner Social Club, Society For the Encouragement of Virtue & Steeplechase, Neon Raptor Heart Breaker & Slushosaurus & SALT Jute. There were no real ciders. I suspect these are only available in the summer.

I chose a couple of dark beers and it was so warm in here that we weren't in too much of a hurry to leave! Featured in the current Good Beer Guide, there is also a CAMRA discount available.

A pub with a homely comfortable feel, a little smart and loungey so not to my immediate taste in pubs. As BF mentions below a cellar problem meant no cask available and a reduced keg lineup on our Saturday visit and thus compounded a less than satisfactory pub experience.

A small frontage with fine Home Ales windows,you enter into a low level seating area then up a step to the bar,there is a large room to the right side,then a much lower rear lounge and dining area.Sadly on my trip there was a gas supply issue meaning ale could not be drawn from the cellar and all handpumps were reversed.Just keg options from a limited selection of indie beers with the best option seemingly Round Corner Brewing Nitro Stout while their Steeple Chase and Salt Jute were the other options.
The internal decor looks classy with wood framing but it's also felt antiseptic so only a modest rating.
