A GK pub in the sticks and on a bend leading to a dead end and the church in this quiet village. A whitewashed building externally, inside it is rectangular with a small bar in the far right-hand corner which serves a bar area which pleasingly has no tables either set out with cutlery or with menus on. The remainder of the pub towards to the left is geared for dining with the far left reaches being under a high-ceilinged room which appears to be an addendum to the original. Three ales on, comprising 'Fox Ale' (rebadged Hardy & Hansons), Sadler's Sun Catcher and Westgate Bonkers Conkers, halves of the latter two £1.90 each and in good shape. Friendly locals at the bar, and although food is the primary focus, the separate bar area is welcome and goes to show how you can sate both camps without fuss.
