With a street front that dominates the High Street, the Castle also goes back a long way. I saw four hand pumps on the bar in the room we were in, and four more in the next room which were duplicates. All the beers were from Joules Brewery, which is usually the case in their pubs. I had a half each of the Pale, the regular 4.1% one that I've had before on many occasions, and of the Mosaic Pale 4.5% which I have always swerved, as my first attempt at a mosaic-hopped beer a few years ago was fairly unpleasant. Either my taste buds have acquired a new appreciation or Joules do something differently to Adnams, as both beers were not only in very good condition (NBSS 4) but also very enjoyable.
