The Bricklayers Arms is a Joules pub with a large front patio with picnic tables, and a substantial wooden smoking shelter, that sit behind a waist high brick wall. Inside is bricklaying and mason paraphernalia on the walls and a central L-shaped wood panelled serving counter that supports a premium keg range alongside Carling and two banks of 5 identical hand pumps that were drawing Joule’s Blonde, Pale, Slumbering Monk, Mosaic and Sipa. The central wooden floored bar area has a mix of high tables and stools and standard height tables and chairs in the windows either side of the entrance and a couple of booths along the rear wall to the right of the counter. Up the right-hand side of the pub behind an internal wall with an inset burner is the Mayor’s Parlour that is a tile floored seating area with a large rug and ‘The Cabinet’ snug on the rear wall. To the left of the bar area is a larger tile floored games area with high tables, shuffleboard in the centre and a dartboard on the rear wall. I thought the two barmen on duty were very friendly and the locals of mixed ages all seemed nice enough. I liked it in here and would love it to be my local but alas it’s 250 miles from my house.

I spotted this one on the bus out to Bishops Castle and was delighted to find that on the way back the bus stop was right outside it.
It's a fairly typical 20th Century suburban pub which at first didn't endear me to much to it. The main bar area has a wooden floor while the room to the right at the front of the pub has red tiles and a large rug.
I was here on an early Friday afternoon and the landlady was bringing round a tray of complimentary sausage rolls.
There are four beers and a cider on here. The beers were the three regular Joule's ones plus a new No 1 Stone Ale. I went for the Pale (£3.00) which was in good nick. After that I tried the Stone Ale (£3.20) and decided to eat here rather than chance on the mayhem that is a JDW on a Friday night. The Stone Ale was excellent and I confirmed on my return that it had New World (NZ) hops in it. This old school pub grew on me so I was glad I stayed for more than just a quick pint.

As recorded elsewhere it is a Joules run pub. Nice inside with a beer garden out front. Usual Joules ales.
