This very old pub is looking a bit "new" with freshly painted white walls and black beams along with the new carpet. It will take time to mature back to a traditional old local. It will start to look that way after I have had a few pints. Great to see it open again.
Four handpumps with Reverand James, Black Sheep, Salopian Gold and Cameron Strongarm.
EXIT - 26/11/2019
Now closed again (along with its adjoining "big sister" The Smithfield Hotel).
Like I said two years ago, The bright white walls and shiny black beams looked all wrong in this very old building. With no pictures, no atmosphere at all, leading to no customers. The four cask ales soon dropped to just one, losing any appeal to visit the pub. A new landlord failed to stop the rot. Such a shame for this old historic building.
