Reopened as a pub after the closed and badly flood-damaged building was listed as an asset of community value, and now owned and run by a community benefit society. This is a two room pub which is also a B&B with six basic on suite rooms. As you enter the main door there is a small reception area with a public bar on the left and a dining lounge on the right. The bar has a small counter against the back wall and the room is decorated in a very minimalist fashion, at the far end of the room are double doors which lead out to a small beer garden. The lounge is set for dining with a large double sided fire place and is decorated with various bowls and vases which have been produced by a local artist.
Ales on my visit were Everards Tiger Best Bitter, Salopian Shropshire Gold and Ludlow Gold. The two local beers were in good condition but the Tiger had evidence of sediment in the glass which we were told was because it was the end of the barrel. It was replaced without any fuss.
This is a nice pub that is very useful if you’re planning a short visit to the area. The interior has been refurbished but it doesn’t look too modern, so a little thought and care has been given to the pub. My wife and I stayed one night here in June and the B&B rooms are small and basic but also clean. The food is adventurous and very good with all meat sourced locally.

you know you are getting near the pub way down the street it has roadside advertising everywhere, so we popped in for a very enjoyable meal and a nice lager, its a very large village pub very friendly.
