The ultimate Country pub this one. Excellent stting in the south Shropshire hills, it makes a great starting point or ending point for a trot up Caer Caradoc, one of the Shropshire Six with fantastic views from the summit.
The pub is a delightful old pub with a raised bar so the staff are looking down at you, and has a real olde worlde feel. Its a real country gem, with seating outside the front for summer relaxation. Lots of exposed beams & a fire place, its a bit like I would expect the Prancing Pony in Bree to be like.
The only downside is its size, its a small village inn with not a lot of room if busy, and the opening hours as below, shuts for the afternoon and food service stops at 2pm.
And they aren't Hobbits you see tucked in the corners, more simple real ale folk - the beer is quite superb, with a number of local ales including the ever faithful Hobsons.

I really am amazed that I'm the first to review this outstanding pub. Located in a picture book village in rolling hills just east of Church Stretton. I've never been disappointed with the locally brewed real ale or the food. Gets crowded at the weekend. Small car park to across the lane to the right of the pub as seen on the photo. Downside is that opening hours are, like the pub, a little old fashioned.
