E TA left this review about The Ring of Bells
A former coaching inn on the main West road, this 18th Century pub is now a local serving the growing community around it which includes a new 'affordable' housing development. Despite being on the main road, lack of parking and heavy traffic make it difficult to park, so it is often bypassed. The former stable yard is now a paved garden, locked away behind an iron gate. The main bar is irregular in shape, mostly carpeted and has a few low beams. It could be quite agreeable, but it is actually cluttered and a bit grubby. There is a large, light function room at the back, which is cheaply furnished and looks like a Scout hut. There are sweet dispensers, tv screens showing sports and a bookcase with the village's most popular books – some of which still aren't coloured in. The food was cheap and was basic pub grub, while they offer both sit-down meals and buffets for parties in the function room. There was evidence of dog-friendliness, and families are welcomed. The only ale on was St Austell's Trelawney, which was OK but a bit too cold. A decent enough local but it doesn't have the same appeal as some of the local pubs away from the main road.
