This pub has two separate rooms, reached via a small corrider past the bar counter. The room at the front nearest to the main road is more of a public (or perhaps sports) bar, as it contains the pool table and dartboard. The larger room at the back is the saloon/lounge bar, as it is carpeted, and is furnished with more “lounge-like” furnishings such as bucket armchairs, and has arty large black and white photos on the walls. There’s quite a bit of “brewer’s rustic” in the lounge bar, with black painted ceiling beams seemingly having no purpose other than decoration; more faux black beams on the bar counter front, and with the walls and ceilings all painted white. There’s a bit of outside seating at the front, and a car park to the side.
Of the two handpumps only one was clipped, with Doom Bar, but unfortunately it was undrinkably off. Apparently they don’t have the real ale custom to support having a second ale available, which I guess is not too surprising given the competition that the Barley Mow provides just a few minutes’ walk away. I didn’t see any sign of food on Wednesday afternoon. This is not a bad pub, but I have to say that I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit it again, especially with the Barley Mow just down the road.

Peculiar pub - outside has been changed to not look much like a pub, but inside relatively unchanged and a bit tired. Spotted some handpumps in the smaller of the two bars, although proved to be only Courage Best and Bombardier - quite amazingly we were offered a taste first to see if they were ok. Suffice it to say neither was, which probably explained it, but why on earth try and sell it in that state anyway? Bonus mark to the barman for caring, but loses several until they learn how to keep beer properly.Could be quite a good pub but needs a lot of work, like fixing the door (best draught in the place).

A two-bar local that looks like it's seen better days. Two beers on the go (Courage Best and my choice, Speckled Hen - decent enough). There are some nice architectural touches inside but it needs a revamp to bring out the goodness as the inside is dark and dingy. Pretty empty as a result on Sunday, compared to the other places in Shepperton we dropped into. The barman had the hyperactivity and attention span of someone who has drunk 10 red bulls. Odd. Not encouraged to go back.
