Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Dolphin Hotel
Semi-traditional 18th-century inn, overlooking the large village green so (if you ignore the surrounding houses on the other sides) it appears more like country pub than something you would expect to find in this isolated town near the far end of Romney Marsh. Partly opened-out inside, the refurbished front section of the L-shaped bar is lighter than one might expect, as is a separate side room, but the rear seating areas have a darker appearance. Another surprise is not only finding a pub like this having nine handpumps but also finding all of these in use. The cask beers comprised a couple each from Cellar Head and Battle, Harvey's, 1381 from Wantsum (£3.50), Knights Tale from Canterbury Ales and Otter Amber from further afield, and a draught cider on the final pull.

The Dolphin is located just off the main road by the town green and so is away from the noisy, slightly yobbish crowd which bedevils most of Lydd's other pubs. The staff are friendly, the locals are welcoming and the atmosphere is convivial. There are two conjoined bar areas, one a traditional public bar and the other a "comfy chair" zone with a tv. Three beers on this week: the Ringwood and Harveys were both very good (the latter being the better of the two). I didn't try the Banks's but my colleague who did was happy with it. This is the most civilised pub in Lydd and is worth including on a local crawl or just dropping into for lunch.

Recently refurbed pub overlooking the village green. Friendly bar staff, good range of beers and great Sunday lunches. Well worth a visit
