My 2nd visit - must have forgot to review last time - its quite bonkers finding a nautically themed pub, when you are this close to the centre of England and as far from the sea that you can get. This includes a "speed selector" instrument in the porch area and then the rear window is designed to look like a old warship, with a bar window "Victory" and a dummy of him off the column.
A long thin bar with dining rooms to the side and rear. Its home to the Sperrin brewery and a Good Beer Guide Regular. The pump clips are all identically shaped and without art work but there were half a dozen brews - including a very strong Stout (8.4%). I played safe with a guest Bass, which was perfect and in the correct glassware.
On this instance, I only had 20 minutes, as the hourly bus (the stop is named after the pub) was bang on time.
Interesting, quality beer and strangely out of place!

A bit of a surprise, this one, mainly because I didn't know about it but should have. Anyway the building remains as described by Soup below, vaguely suburban, done out in a seventies nautical style. We pulled in on a dismal November afternoon, tripling the attendance, and were bowled over to see half a dozen Sperrin badged handpumps going. I asked the landlady for a weak driver's beer, I can't remember what it was called, but it certainly touched the spot.
These former mining villages nowadays feel a little out of place in the pleasant Warwickshire countryside, with their rows of terraces and WMCs, and are worth nosing around, especially when you find little jewels like the Nelson.

Enjoyed our visit to this brewpub for Sperrin beers which appears in the 2019 Good Beer Guide. Met up with friends for one of their budget meals which was good value. There were 5 of their Sperrin beers on plus a guest from Milestone brewery and a cider. There is a car park. and an hourly bus service 18 which runs from Nuneaton.
