Called in a few days before Christmas. This place has been on my radar for a while and I was glad to finally make it. Plenty of hand pulls for cask ale, helpful chalk boards at the bar listing the beers, and I think there may have been some keg options too. If I had more time I could have worked my way through the cask ales as there were so many interesting ones to choose from, so that's something that may well warrant a revisit. Service was friendly. Definitely recommended!

The Trackside is located within Bury Bolton Street Station on the East Lancashire Railway. Located on the right wall is a bar that supports 12 hand pumps for drawing real ale and cider. I went for a pint of J W Lees, which was very good. The many pump clips lined along the roof beams were an indication of ever-changing beer choice. There was some low background music playing, but no other distractions such as a television. It was cold and rainy during my visit, so I didn’t get to sit out on the platform, however I was lucky enough to see a steam train pass. I liked it in here and would definitely recommend to others.

Unfortunately no sign of any steam locos on our visit, still the beer was good. We went for the Boilerhouse Craft Pale at £2.50 a pint which was in good condition. I don't think you can go far wrong with the beers in here as the place is always busy, so the turn over of beer must be quite rapid. The pub had a choice of 12 ales on handpump and the place also serves some food.
