Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Royal
One of the better-looking pubs in the town (not that there are many to choose from), this establishment has had a minor refurbishment at some stage but is still pretty basic. The partially opened-out 'U'-shaped interior is quite spacious, with an additional slightly raised seating area at one end and plenty of room for a pool table and a small stage at the other. No real ale, of course, so I went for the Cameron's Smooth (£1.50, half) in preference to the Newcastle Exhibition or the dreaded John Smiths.
