The Society Room is a large open plan Lloyds No. 1 with a long bar counter down the right-hand wall facing high tables down the centre and standard furniture down the left. In amongst the standard and premium keg I counted two banks of three hand pubs. Greenjack Brewery’s Gone Fishing ESB, Fire Island’s Buffalo, Ringwood’s 49er, Belhaven’s 80 Shilling, Sharps Doom Bar and GK Abbot Ale were the cask options. The Spoons food menu is in operation. It was very quiet in here, so the atmosphere came from the background music, although the staff were polite and efficient.

It didn't take too long to gather this was a Lloyds, judging by the music playing through the various speakers around the main lounge. I have to say the music was a very good choice. A couple of main features in here was the illuminated strip along the front of the bar and some cask iron vertical drinking columns, six in all, over by the front windows. Beerwise, two types of Abbott, Doombar, Deuchars, Black Sheep Dead Parrott and Wadworth Sweet Molly.

I steered clear of this one on Friday night as it's a Lloyds and turned up early on Saturday morning for a breakfast, returning later for a beer as the fruitcake Scottish government think it's wrong to drink beer with a breakfast. It's been well described below and was almost empty for breakfast but had quite a few in later.
The six hand pumps had a reasonable choice with Doom Bore, Skye Gold, Daleside Monkey Wrench, Drygate Pale Duke & Seven Peaks Mosaic IPA and Edinburgh Industrial Pale. I went for the Mosaic IPA (£2.09) which was excellent.
Considering this is a Lloyds I thought it was reasonably OK.
