A large and rather stately Spoons, quite tastefully done up and very busy at time of visit. The main area is perhaps a bit rectangular with long straight rows of tables, but they have tried to break up the interior with a slightly different feel beyond. Outdoor seating is provided in a fenced off area of the square at the front. The manager seems to be keen on his ales however, which were in fine form, and it gets a bonus point for having three dark beers on with a fourth to follow. A beer suggestions box is always a good sign and the display of previous pump clips was impressive. in case you were wondering, the guest ales were Twickenham Gothick Dark and Grandstand, Surrey Hills ALbury Ruby and Roosters London Thunder.

The Assembly Rooms is a branch of Wetherspoon's in a prominent location overlooking the market square.
At first glance, all tables seemed to be taken, but ones in the shade nearest the building were still free.
We attempted to order by the app and as usual, it failed for me after the payment page. Luckily, a friendly staff member was at hand to take our order in a slightly more traditional way. Although I'd still prefer to visit a bar!
The ale choice was Greene King IPA or Sharp's Doom Bar. This was my second Wetherspoon's visit since pub's re-opened and it's clear that they are keeping stock levels to a minimum. However, they did still have Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon, which I gladly ordered.
Inside seemed quite spacious, but tables had been removed. So, it may have been perceptive. In usual style, toilets were upstairs. Could be a decent Wetherspoon's with a decent beer range.

Located on Epsom’s High Street, next to the market square, and occupying a grand 17th Century building that harks back to the town’s boom years as a spa resort, this is now a large branch of the Wetherspoons chain. The pub has a single large room which is laid out in three distinct areas thanks to long sections of partitioning wall that run left to right through the centre of the room. The front part of the pub has a sizeable central section which has mostly been filled with high tales and stools on exposed floorboards with plain walls and large windows along the front of the building. A few decent looking booths run along the right-hand wall where various old photos and muted TV screens provide a bit of visual distraction. Meanwhile, to the left there is a carpeted area with standard and tub chair seating under plain mirrors, ‘Spoons information boards and another TV screen. Moving further back, a narrow, quarry stone floored middle section has minimal seating and seems to act more as a thoroughfare through an otherwise fairly densely furnished room, whilst the servery is in the rear third of the room with a typical dark wood counter and matching mirrored bar back. For all the building’s history and impressive appearance on approach, there’s not all that much by way of ‘wow’ factor inside, although my other half reliably informs me that the ladies’ toilets are fairly spectacular.
I counted ten hand pulls with a split of four ‘Spoons regulars and six guest ales, which isn’t a bad ratio, although the pint of White Horse Wayland Smithy I tried was fairly tired, so maybe they’re over-extending themselves a little with such a range. We also ate here and found things a bit sloppy and below-par, although the service was at least prompt and friendly.
This is a nice enough branch of Wetherspoons which feels a bit disappointing due to the failure to fully capitalise on the great building they’ve inherited. However, it does still far outrank all those bog-standard, shop converted ‘Spoons you can find the length and breadth of the country and, assuming the beer quality was a blip, makes for a good option when out and about in Epsom town centre.
