Fairly typical long, thin but small ‘spoons conversion, short tables and chairs as you enter, tall ones and booths opposite the gently curving counter running for about halfway down the left side a third of the way in, nice dark wood panelling and old photos. There are a few odd raised bits by the front. At the back, past the ground floor toilets, is a semi separate room. Very odd above head height with all manner of big pipes and metal roof struts making the counter look a bit out of place, it’s a single storey place in a three storey building. In fact the counter looks old and may be a rescue from a much, much larger pub especially if this is just half or even a quarter of the original. It does retain an older six plus eight hand pull layout with big and small T-Bars in between and at the ends. Just the unholy trinity plus one festival beer at one end and the usual three again plus three festival beers at the other. It’s also one of those spoons where tribes of teenagers wander in and out at random times.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Sugar Loaf (JD Wetherspoon)
Long rectangular bar with a lowish ceiling at the front but a higher extension further back. Booths along one side, and the raised beer garden to one side also has a covered row. On this first revisit for 13 years, the implausibly large number of handpumps (14) were offering the standard Greene King IPA, Doom Bar and Abbot plus Salopian's As One Door Closes, a couple of local Grainstore beers - Tupping and Ten Fifty (£2.66) - and the Cucumelon Sour from Adnams (which obviously wasn't selling quickly as it was discounted as a Manager's Special).

Actually one of the better looking Spoons I've visited over the years, a nice exterior and a longish slightly curving interior of three areas not in the usual canteen style. of course the usual suspect beers were present along with four or five guests of mostly local origin, I went for Grainstore Tupping which was fine, NBSS 3.
Unlike most Spoons I would probably call in again if back in town, which is not that probable.
