Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Amber Rooms (JD Wetherspoon)
This modern Wetherspoon pub improved a lot since it stopped being branded as a Lloyds No 1 Bar as few years ago. Rather nondescript interior in the reasonably-sized main bar, with a smaller upstairs area and a rear patio garden. Nine cask ales available from the two banks of six handpumps on this visit, with Jaipur, Sharp's Sea Fury, Otter Bright, Old Hooky, Grainstore's Triple B and Osmatic from Beermats (£2.99) in addition to the regular Ruddles, Doom Bar and Abbot.

Quick revisit – a fair mid-morning pint of Stewarts ESB (NBSS 3 - just). Now the other Spoons in town (Moon & Bell) has shut, this is the only game in town for a cheap pint. A shame that the quality isn’t as obviously good in here as it was over there. 6.5

Modern Spoons (well, 2003) with an industrial feel over two floors with a bar on each though just the lower one open on my 11.30am visit. Blue and steel grey are the colours and you enter through a hefty UPVC door that looks like it could withstand a few pounds of semtex. Three guest ales, my Mad Giant Autumn from the JDW festival list was in decent shape (NBSS 3). Perfunctory staff but the pub itself is smart and is close to the station. Rated 6.5

The Amber Rooms is a Wetherspoons where a tile floor surrounded steel serving counter with holes drilled through it runs up the right-hand wall. Two banks of six hand pumps are supported, the usual three cask were available alongside Nottingham Brewery’s Robin Hood, Bendigo and Trent Mild as well as Mad Squirrel Brewery’s Unity, Beermats Brewing’s Format, Jaipur and Vale Brewery’s Red Kite. A row of high tables run opposite the counter up the centre of the pub and standard tables and chairs are found on a raised area up the left-hand wall. Upstairs is more seating that wraps around a hole in the floor that overlooks a bit of the bar below and at the front is some covered balcony seating that overlooks the bus stops outside the front of the pub. A small counter on the left-hand wall supports a few keg products. I didn’t rate the Robin Hood, but the beer’s cheap and the service was polite so I’d pop back in if passing.
