A nice looking pub on the outside, inside is a mix of old and newish. An L shaped room with a partly separated part at the rear left which leads into a conservatory. Old wooden tables and chairs with traditional stools and banquettes on a board floor. The right hand end houses a pool table, fruit machine and darts, the other end has a DJ booth. Odd tartan wallpaper plus bookcase wallpaper slightly hidden by a big screen over a rather nice Victorian tiled fireplace. A mix of prints, handbills and postcards as decor. Beer wise there are two T-bars of lower end UK kegs plus a Moretti solo, John Smiths smooth is available, five hand pumps had Hobgoblin Gold and IPA which was dreadful, green and hazy (NBSS 1.5) and a Landlord clip reversed. Somehow it has Cask Marque! Fellow lunchtime customers were two sweary old blokes, the constant music presumably was for the benefit of the barman.

This is a large, white-painted building in a part of Horbury that has more trees than houses. The entrance is via a porch that has steps leading up, but also a ramp to one side. for wheelchair access. Once inside it's fairly modern and undistinguished, with new floor and new bar counter too by the looks of it. It's a Marstons pub with three hand pumps selling Hobgoblin and Hobgoblin Gold, plus Sunbeam. There's a DJ set up in one corner and a pool table to the right. It would be quite comfortable in here, and the beer was ok, but the loud music playing at 3 o'clock in the afternoon made me drink up quick and get out.

Fully describe by a&h below. All I have to add is that the conservatory was a complete mess with upturned chairs etc on my visit. For some reason all the fruit machines were turned off as well, they can't all be broken. 5 of the 6 handpumps in use, all pulling beers from the extended Marston's stable. My pint of Marston's New World Pale was in excellent nick. I don't think I'd want to settle down for a long session in here, but it's a nice enough place to call in for one.
