Called in on a Monday afternoon when it was fairly quiet, although by no means dead. It's an Irish bar but not an O'Neills in your face kind of place. As you enter you go up a flight of stairs to the bar area. Downstairs is a comedy club called Laughter House. They were doing a good food trade during our visit. No real ale, so I had a pint of Estrella and Ms CAMRA a half of cider. They were playing a fairly middle of the road selection of music with the odd rock or indie track, so it gets an extra point for not playing that Abba crap. :-))

maybe it helped that it wasn't cramped today but I thought this place was okay. pleasant dimly lit Irish bar with friendly staff. also was playing ABBA for the entirety of my visit so extra point for the good taste.

For some reason this is a pub I just can't take to. Its nearly always packed and therefore cramped whenever I've been, especially at weekends. Usually has an overloud band/singer blasting out standard pub music. There is a downstairs that's used for music too and is even louder. Faux Irish fixtures and fittings. No real ale so its standard lager-a-likes on tap. It being in a part of town I don't particularly like also puts a downer on it.
