Blackthorn _ left this review about Three Brass Monkeys

Recently reopened after being closed for about five years when the former Wetherspoon’s shut, this is now run by Amber Taverns.

Internally the layout is much as before consisting of a single, open-plan inverse ‘L’ shaped room, although it’s all been renovated and decorated. Flooring is a mixture of pale wooden tiles with inlaid carpet elsewhere, with pale plasterwork on the walls and ceiling along with some taupe wood panelling on the lower part of the walls. Seating was a mixture of padded chairs and fitted and padded bench seating in a burnt orange colour. A few random pictures were scatted around the walls, as well as a couple of TV screens showing a sports channel. A karaoke session was in progress at the front of the pub which was at far too high a volume, made all the worse by the appalling singing quality of the participants. A couple of illuminated darts boards were recessed in to the wall at the rear and there was also a pool table. A number of heavily tattooed gentlemen seemed to be making use of these facilities. Adjacent to this was a small courtyard garden, but with cheap plastic chairs and tables covered in detritus, in was rather unappealing.

Beers on tap were The Rev James and Quantock’s QPA, whilst a third pump for London Pride had run out. Ciders meanwhile were Thatcher’s Gold, Strongbow Dark Fruit, Inch’s Medium Apple and Strongbow Original.

E TA left this review about The Dragon Inn (JD Wetherspoon)

A small JDW with a rather more pleasant atmosphere than many.  The bar is a regular rectangle, nothing extraordinary.  There is a small smoking area at the front, which was littered with detritus, both human and inanimate.  There was a table of 4 millinarily challenged morons whose voices had no volume control, but other than them the clientele seemed relatively ordinary.  Ales on draft were Ruddles, Abbott, Doombar, Zululand Pale Ale, Erik’s Midnight Sun, Liberation Pale Ale and Arcadia.  There were 5 boxed ciders as well.  The Midnight Sun I had was in excellent condition, a really good pint.  I’d actually be happy to come back here to see whether the beer quality is always this good

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Dragon Inn (JD Wetherspoon)

Not a wide frontage, but the rectangular bar stretches a long way back. However, this - and the low ceiling - means it's rather dark inside. Standard old-style 'spoons furniture and decor. So-so choice of real ales from eight of nine handpumps, but even the premium beers such as Sheriff Fatmam from Scragged Oak were going for just £2.05 on a Monday.
