Visited back in April on a Friday morning for breakfast. This is a fairly small footprint city centre Spoons across two floors. Downstairs was busier than upstairs, but both areas were in use. Upstairs consisted of a mix of some booths along with standard tables and chairs. Toilets are upstairs, naturally.
There is a big glass frontage. There are two entrances on the ground floor, and you can walk right through the building to come out somewhere different, which I have to admit caught me off guard somewhat!
I didn't have a drink so didn't pay attention to the ale selection, however there is a small bar upstairs, which I assume gets used during busy periods. My breakfast did feature the smallest piece of bacon I have ever seen, should anyone be interested.
There are several branches of Spoons in Liverpool city centre, most are better than this one.

The Welkin is an oddly shaped pub Wetherspoons with a long and thin dining like area that stretches from the Whitechapel entrance to the bar area at the rear where the serving counter across the rear wall faces some high tables. It is carpeted throughout apart from some laminate around the counter and adjacent hot drink serving station to the left. The two banks of five hand pumps were drawing the usual three Spoons favourites alongside Peerless Brewing’s Citruvian, Saltaire’s Triple Choc and Cascade, Love Lane Brewery’s Session IPA and Higson’s Best. A decent line up, but the service was slow and the atmosphere non-existent due to most customers being in to eat, even though my Monday afternoon visit was half-way between lunch and dinner.

Situated in Liverpool's Cavern Quarter, this is a branch of Wetherspoon's that undoubtedly attracts a large amount of visitors to the city, especially in the evenings and at weekends. It's not a 'spoon's that we go to too often. On a Thursday morning, nursing a hangover from a heavy afternoon, evening and night of drinking and with our usual breakfast place having no available tables, it served a purpose.
The Welkin always seems popular for breakfast, with the clientele mainly being locals preparing for a day's shopping (or perhaps drinking). The two old ladies pottering around who eventually sat on an adjacent table having ordered a bottle of wine at 10:45 in the morning, being a case in point.
There are 2 floors. The ground floor is fairly uninspiring and I've never really explored upstairs.
The usual Wetherspoon's beers were on - Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best & Sharp's Doom Bar. Guests were both dark beers - Rudgate Vanilla Mild & Elland 1872 Porter. There was no real cider, that I could see.
