Blue Scrumpy left this review about Rising Sun
With the Cross Gaits now closed, the Rising Sun is the only pub in and around the village of Blacko.
I arrived in time for the 3pm weekday opening time and shortly after, a mobile pizza van arrived and started to set up. Apparently they are here every Thursday on the pub car park, which is just on the opposite side of the road from the pub.
This is a pub that has plenty of character. There are two small rooms at the front. The one on the right is a games room with a pool table. To the rear, is a slightly larger room where the pub's dogs were residing. One was overly friendly and joined me at my table, whilst the other one growled at every customer.
The barmaid didn't seem particularly friendly. Perhaps it was just because I was a stranger to be treated with suspicion. Ales were Moorhouse's White Witch & Bowland Buster. I chose the latter, which was enjoyable.
Despite the slightly frosty welcome, I found this to be a nice, cosy local. Despite its small size, it was nice to see that the original layout had not been messed with and each individual room remained.
