Big barn of a circuit pub on the ground floor of a college building of some sort. Tolerable for a drink if you have walked through the unpubbed area by the station, but otherwise fairly avoidable. Ales on were Old Hooky and Hooky Gold.

Large pub on the way into town from the train station. 2 ales on offer - Theakston's bitter and Hook Norton 12 days (left over from Christmas I suppose!). I went for the Theakston's which was fine. Very quiet but it was 9.30 on a Sunday morning! Happy to have called in.

A town centre pub, eatery and music venue of the Litten Tree chain. The building is amazingly dull from the exterior - a featureless 60s looking build, largely in undressed brick, with a first floor projecting extension.
The interior has a large open-plan L-shaped room, with a sunken area for dancing and a DJ, populated by empty tables during the day. The decor has white, wood panelled and patterned wallpapered walls, with a white and part blue ceiling, with a snazzy carpet. There is a balcony level, which was not open to the public. A few vases on wooden bookcases break the vista of food tables. We didn't eat so can't comment on that. There were no real pictures on the walls. There is a large screen TV and smaller ones as well, the background music was general and quiet. The service was friendly and the clientele a good Spoonsy styled mix.
Beer; usual tap stuff, with Byatt's Bitter and Ansells MILD on handpull. The MILD was sold for £2 and was so-so at best.
We visited due to the fact that I will go in anywhere and the last 3 pubs we visited had run-out of real ale. One for the keg drinkers and those that want a generic bite to eat. It hurt a little to see Ansells MILD sold so cheaply, but it hurt more to drink it.
