Substantial roadhouse en route to Walsall, now deep in suburbia. Several large seating / dining areas around the central bar area, all plainly furnished and decorated. Basic Stonegate menu. I found two of the three handpumps in use, dispensing Doom Bar and - thankfully - Proper Job (full price unknown, but just a quid with my meal).

This is a detached pub, with patio area and beer garden. It is a 1930s estate pub, in 17th century style, with recessed wings. It is in brick, the centre being white painted and having brick pilaster edging. The interior is now one open U-shaped room. It is in white, red and a mustard colour, with white ceiling and carpet. It looks a little tired. On the one side there is a bar kind of area, with darts and pool. The rest is given over to dining style tables, but you get the feeling that it is more a drinking place, as nobody was eating at my visit. I haven't been in here since the 80s, but it has now become a generic food place. The TVs had the footy on and the music was mixed and at a decent level. The service was ok and the clientele mainly mature, and all drinking. The walls had a mirror, a few pictures and a Christmas display greeting you as you walked in. Beer; usual tap stuff (Banks's Bitter and MILD) with GK IPA on handpull. I just had a shandy and left. A run-of-the-mill place.
