Mitre Hotel, Ramsey

The Mitre is one of 3 Ramsey pubs in the latest Good Beer Guide. I'd been here before back in 2009, but can't say it stuck out in my mind. Reading my review from last time, there were apparently some interesting characters coming in and out. These days, I would say that things have improved.

You can enter the pub either from Parliament Street or from the quayside. Drinking areas are through a door off one side of the corridor. There is a bar area at the Parliament Street end and a separate area up some steps with excellent views over the quay/harbour. This area has a separate bar and is the one with handpulls. Okell's Bitter & Jough Ale are the regular beers. MPA was also on. The Jough Ale was a nice drop.

This room also had a Sunday carvery in action. Quite a few were in for the food, with some tables reserved. Although, I can't say it looked that tempting.

Nevertheless, I would say that this pub has certainly improved and it's certainly worth including on any visit to Ramsey.
