A pleasant street corner local that was quiet compared with nearby Arkwrights, the former working men's club, where Friday afternoon drinkers were spilling out onto the pavement. This was a relative haven of peace, and as a bonus had two real ales on: Lancaster Blonde and Marstons 61 Deep. I went for the Lancaster beer, as they are a more reliable brewery than Marstons these days, or at least their beers are more often found in good nick, which this one was. And only £1.95 a pint!
